Lesley Adams leads our Animation courses at Farnham. She is also a co-opted member of the UCA Board of Governors and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA)
She has a first-class (Hons) Graphic Design degree and worked commercially within the industry as a designer and animator before graduating with her Master’s degree in Animation from the Royal College of Art in 1991.
Lesley has co-directed several Arts Council funded films and events, including the award-winning Channel 4 and Arts Council England funded film ‘Postcards of Belief’. She has also curated animation screenings at Bradford International Animation Festival, National Film Theatre in London, Cardiff International Animation Festival, the Lightbox in Woking and the Black Film Makers Festival in London.
She is an External Examiner on the Animation courses at Edinburgh College of Art and Norwich University of the Arts, having previously worked as an Examiner at the University of South Wales and the University of Bolton. She has also acted as an Industry Advisor for the National Film & Television School (NFTS) on the Directing Animation course and as an External Examiner at Staffordshire University. She is a member of the HEA, CILECT, NAHEMI and Animation Alliance UK.
Lesley has received two Teaching Excellence Awards (2006 and 2011) and has been nominated for an Excellence in Leadership & Management Award (2008/09) and by the students for an ‘Awesome Tutor’ Award (2016, 2018).
Lesley is one of the University’s Creative Education Mentors and a member of the ‘Access and Participation Committee and recent academic member of the Learning & Teaching and Academic Quality Committee at UCA.
