How to apply
You can apply via UCAS here. Our UCAS code is W615F BA/Anm.

For more information about the BA (Hons) Animation course click here and for the MA Animation course click here.
Once you have applied you will likely be asked to attend an interview for which you should bring a portfolio of a range of your work that shows your passion for animation. The interviews are held in small groups of between 3 or 4 applicants. Parents will not be in the interview with you.
In your portfolio we would want to see all or most of the following:
- Examples of your drawing skills shown through both life drawing and observational drawing ie. NOT copied from photos or illustrations - 'fan art' will not be viewed.
- Personal ideas and image generation work in sketchbooks – in addition to the work you have had to create for your course.
- Examples of your recent course work. Show ONLY your best work! Not everything! We are often more interested in the process rather than the end product.
- Evidence of animation if possible. This should be viewable from a memory stick or online. The showreel should be no longer than two minutes and should be edited to show only YOUR work.
- When writing your personal statement AVOID sentences such as 'Ever since I was a child I have loved animation...' or similar - your statement will stand out if it is smart, informed, clear and original.
At the interview we will probably ask you:
- Why have you chosen to study animation?
- What short films have you seen that have inspired you and how? Was it the design, script, animation quality, etc?
- Why do you want to study animation at Farnham?
- What sort of films do you want to make?
- IMPORTANT! You should also have good basic knowledge of the course you are applying for!
Good luck!
